There are times in life when you don’t know where you’re life is heading to. You have dreams, plans, personal and work related aspirations buried deep inside you but on the surface you feel stuck. You feel stuck and don’t know which way to go. The only feeling that decribes your life is the word ‘OK.’ Do we really wanna live a life that is only OK?!? Do we really wanna give up all those dreams, aspirations just to feel safe and secure in our OK life, when we could have a life we LOVE.
I’m not saying that you can’t like your OK life; there are moments, days, weeks, or even months when you feel good in that life. But, I’m also sure at the end of the day you want more than an ‘ok’ out of life. You feel like something is missing. Your soul yearns for more.
When you reach this stagnating stage in life, that is when you need faith, get active and take the very first step.
Get a piece of paper and organise your life! This is the time when you need to dream big, when I say big I mean supa-BIG. Don’t limitate yourself to your present circumstances. Dream and imagine great things, dig deep inside your soul, find the things that drive you, that motivate and inspire you. Grab a piece of paper, your diary or your laptop and start jotting down whatever comes to your mind when you think of a fulfilled life.
Then categorise! You can categorise in so many different ways, just use your imagination. I use the categories: Family, Finances, Inner qualities, Health/Spirituality, Personal Stuff, Travel etc… You can do sections such as: •short •mid and •long term plans. I also have a special page for business and work ideas, where I write down even ideas that seem so crazy, so out-of-reach.
Prepare your visionboard! Visionboards are awesome and I truly believe that they work. I haven’t done mine yet for this year as I’ve been traveling for 5 weeks now, but as soon as I get back I’ll definitely do the one for 2015. I’ve been making visionboards for 3 or 4 years now. They always worked for me. The most essential part is that you need to be very specific (in my next blog I’ll tell you why – you’ll be amazed just as much as I was;). The other important thing is to hang it somewhere where you can see it. I always hang it up in front of my bed to make sure I see it.
Visualise! Visualisation is like daydreaming. Do it every day, at least once a day (10-15 minutes). Visualise that new job you’d like to get, that trip of a lifetime, that healthy beachbody you wanna achieve. Try to imagine the colours, the smell, the sensation. Imagine how awesome it feels to be on that white sandy beach, how happy you’re to go to work every morning. When I visualise I always end up smiling because it makes me happy be in that ‘dream.’ You know what they say: “if you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” And, Practice, practice and practice!
When you do your list, quiet the chitty chatty nonsense of your mind and listen to your heart! Even if you don’t know at this stage what is missing in your life, even if you think you’re not strong or brave enough to do the first step, even if you don’t know what that first step is or how you could reach those goals. Just write, write down everything. I like running for this very reason, it quiets my mind and opens it up to higher, creative vibes. I feel more connected to nature and to myself when running. Find what works for you, maybe it’s yoga, maybe it’s dancing, painting, sitting outside in nature, you name it, the list is endless.
Dream big, visualise and life will take care of the rest. Most importantly have a little faith. Have faith that you can have a life you love, that you deserve it. Giving up on your dreams is like giving up on yourself. Giving up faith is like giving up on life. Be honest with yourself and take time to get to know yourself and what you really want.
Living the life you love doesn’t mean you won’t have problems or you won’t meet obstacles. You will, ups and downs are part of life, they make life interesting. But you’ll feel like you have wings to easier overcome those obstacles because you know where you’re heading to. Obstacles and problems won’t be obstacles and problems anymore they will be just another step towards achieving your dreams.
So, dare to dream big and have a little faith!
Oh, and the most important thing: always be grateful for what you have and how far you’ve come, and give something back to the world! Give, give, give. Give with all your heart, sincerely, as much as you can.
